Success Stories: Officer Shadwick

Jay Shadwick is a police officer with the Eugene, Oregon, police department. While he and his partners were looking for a shooting suspect, he was accidentally shot and received life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to the hospital where he immediately received five units of blood to stabilize his condition for surgery. Without life-saving blood donations, Officer Jay Shadwick may not have survived. He and his family express their undying gratitude to those blood donors for giving the gift of life.

Officer Shadwick has since become a blood donor himself.
